Head of Financial Control & Budgeting

About the role

Bridgemead Advisory is seeking a senior finance leader to oversee group‑wide financial control, reporting and budgeting across its steel, mining and energy businesses. The role reports to the Group Executive Committee and partners closely with subsidiary CFOs and operational heads.

Key responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting and consolidation in line with IFRS.
• Standardise accounting policies, inter‑company eliminations and foreign currency translation across subsidiaries.
• Coordinate statutory audits and deliver timely reports to senior management.
• Drive the annual Group budgeting process, multi‑year financial planning and rolling forecasts.
• Monitor performance against budgets, analyse variances and provide actionable insights.
• Strengthen financial controls, cost accounting and cost‑optimisation initiatives.
• Oversee CAPEX planning, approval, monitoring and post‑investment reviews.
• Manage fixed‑asset accounting, including depreciation, impairment and physical verification.
• Lead ERP utilisation (SAP, Oracle or equivalent) to improve reporting, budgeting and control automation.
• Develop and mentor finance teams and act as a business partner to operational leaders.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics (professional qualification preferred).
• Minimum 12 years of progressive finance experience, preferably in mining, energy or heavy industry.
• Proven track record in financial reporting, consolidation and budgeting at a group level.
• Strong understanding of IFRS and statutory audit processes.
