About the role
We are looking for an experienced Equipment & Fleet Manager to lead the management, maintenance, and optimal use of heavy construction equipment on a large‑scale highway and earthworks project in Oyo State. The role is critical to ensuring equipment uptime, operational efficiency, cost control, and strict safety compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
Key responsibilities
- Manage a fleet of excavators, bulldozers, graders, compactors, loaders and dump trucks, planning deployment and utilization for maximum productivity.
- Develop and enforce preventive and corrective maintenance schedules, supervise repairs and breakdown recovery, and coordinate with OEMs and workshops.
- Monitor fuel consumption, maintenance costs and overall equipment operating expenses, implementing cost‑optimization strategies.
- Supervise equipment operators, mechanics and support staff, allocating tasks and ensuring adherence to procedures.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental standards, conducting routine safety checks on machinery and operator practices.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment usage, maintenance history, spare‑parts inventory and detailed asset registers.
- Collaborate with the Project Manager to forecast equipment needs, support budgeting and procurement planning.
Required profile
- 7‑10+ years of experience managing heavy construction equipment fleets.
- Proven track record in equipment maintenance, cost control and safety compliance.
- Strong leadership skills with experience supervising operators and technical staff.
- Ability to work onsite in a fast‑paced construction environment.
