Site Engineer – Civil & Highway Projects

About the role

We are looking for a skilled Site Engineer to lead civil and highway construction activities on a major road corridor in Oyo State. The role involves day‑to‑day technical supervision, quality assurance, and coordination of contractors to ensure works meet design specifications and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret engineering drawings and set out works using surveying, leveling, staking and alignment techniques.
• Supervise earthworks including excavation, filling, grading and compaction.
• Oversee construction of drainage systems, sub‑base, base course and pavement layers.
• Conduct and supervise material and soil testing (compaction, density, etc.) and maintain quality control documentation.
• Monitor daily site progress, manpower and equipment performance; prepare daily reports for the Project Manager.
• Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, evaluate performance and report any deviations.
• Identify and resolve technical issues on‑site, liaising with consultants and design engineers.
• Enforce health, safety and environmental standards and participate in safety inspections.
• Prepare as‑built drawings and assist with project handover documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• 5–8+ years of experience in highway and earthworks projects.
• Proven ability to supervise site operations and manage subcontractors.
• Strong knowledge of construction quality assurance and HSE compliance.
