Engineering Director – EPC/Construction Leadership

About the role

The Engineering Director will provide technical leadership and engineering assurance across all EPC, PMC and construction projects for Dangote Construction & Heavy Industries. The role ensures multidisciplinary integration, disciplined design management and delivery of safe, high‑quality, fit‑for‑purpose projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead engineering governance, design assurance, constructability and value engineering across the project portfolio.
• Establish and enforce engineering management systems such as design‑review gates, deliverable registers, technical query processes and change‑control procedures.
• Drive risk‑based decision‑making while maintaining compliance with safety, quality, statutory and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate engineering inputs throughout the project lifecycle, linking procurement, construction, commissioning and hand‑over teams.
• Oversee vendor and contractor document reviews, ensuring alignment with project specifications.
• Mentor discipline leads, build internal capability and manage external engineering consultants.
• Develop a Lagos‑based engineering assurance function to sustain high‑quality in‑house engineering.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, etc.).
• Professional registration (COREN or equivalent Chartered/Professional Engineer).
• Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
• Extensive experience in large‑scale EPC or construction projects.

Required skills

• Familiarity with international codes and standards: API, ASME, ASTM, IEC, IEEE, NFPA, BS/Eurocodes, ISO.
