Engineering Director – EPC/Construction Leadership

About the role

The Engineering Director will provide technical leadership and engineering assurance across all EPC, PMC and construction projects for Dangote Construction & Heavy Industries. This senior role ensures disciplined design management, multidisciplinary integration and safe, high‑quality project delivery from concept through handover.

Key responsibilities

• Lead engineering governance across projects, ensuring design assurance, constructability, value engineering and resolution of technical interfaces.
• Establish and enforce engineering management systems such as design‑review gates, deliverable registers, technical query (TQ) processes, document review cycles and design‑change control.
• Drive risk‑based engineering decisions while maintaining compliance with safety, quality, statutory and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate engineering inputs throughout the project lifecycle, linking procurement, construction, commissioning and handover teams.
• Oversee vendor and contractor document reviews, including data sheets, drawings, calculations and interface alignment.
• Conduct constructability and operability reviews to ensure practical, cost‑effective designs aligned with construction sequencing.
• Identify and mitigate technical risks that could affect cost, schedule or quality.
• Provide oversight on technical deviations, concessions and change impacts.
• Build, mentor and lead discipline engineering leads, leveraging internal capability and external consultants.
• Develop a Lagos‑based engineering assurance function to sustain high‑quality in‑house engineering.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation & Control, Chemical, Process, Industrial or related engineering discipline.
• Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
• Professional engineering registration required (COREN for Nigeria or recognized international Chartered/Professional Engineer).
• Strong knowledge of international codes and standards such as API, ASME, ASTM, IEC, IEEE, NFPA, BS/Eurocodes and ISO.
