Consultant for Nutrition SBC Strategy Domestication in Borno & Yobe, Nigeria

About the role

The UNICEF consultancy supports the adaptation, domestication and validation of the national Nutrition Social and Behaviour Change (SBC) Strategy for Borno and Yobe states in Nigeria. The role ensures the strategy reflects state‑specific nutrition priorities, socio‑cultural contexts and humanitarian realities through inclusive stakeholder consultations.

Key responsibilities

• Adapt the national Nutrition SBC Strategy to the specific contexts of Borno and Yobe states.
• Facilitate participatory validation workshops with state ministries, local authorities, community representatives, implementing partners and humanitarian actors.
• Integrate local evidence, community insights and lessons from existing nutrition interventions into the adapted strategy.
• Produce a validated, state‑owned Nutrition SBC Strategy to guide coordinated action and programming.

Required profile

• Experience in nutrition programming, especially infant and young child feeding and maternal nutrition.
• Familiarity with social and behaviour change approaches in humanitarian settings.
• Proven ability to conduct stakeholder consultations and facilitate technical workshops.
• Knowledge of the socio‑cultural and conflict dynamics of Borno and Yobe states is an advantage.
