Background Checks & Due Diligence Officer

About the role

The Background Checks & Due Diligence Officer will ensure that all employee and candidate information is verified accurately and in line with company standards. This role supports the recruitment team by providing reliable verification reports and identifying potential risks.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct thorough background checks on employees and candidates, including academic, employment, and reference verification.
• Carry out due‑diligence investigations according to established procedures.
• Prepare detailed verification reports highlighting discrepancies, risks, and red flags.
• Maintain confidentiality and secure handling of sensitive data.
• Liaise with educational institutions, former employers, and referees to obtain required information.
• Document and archive all verification activities and outcomes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or HND in a relevant discipline.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in background verification, investigations, compliance, audit or a related field (advantageous).
• Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset, and high integrity.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to conduct independent research and follow‑up on findings.
