Accountant – Retail & FMCG (Mid Level)

About the role

We are seeking a mid‑level Accountant to join our fast‑growing retail and FMCG business in Lagos. The role involves managing core financial processes, ensuring compliance, and providing insightful analysis to support strategic decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Maintain accurate accounting records and ledgers.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Reconcile bank statements and financial transactions.
• Monitor cash flow and financial performance.
• Prepare budgets, forecasts, and financial reports.
• Ensure compliance with statutory regulations and tax obligations.
• Process payroll and related financial documentation.
• Conduct financial analysis and provide strategic recommendations.
• Support internal and external audit processes.
• Monitor inventory‑related financial transactions.
• Implement and improve accounting controls and procedures.
• Utilize accounting software for financial reporting and record‑keeping.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
• Professional certification such as ACA, ACCA, ICAN, or equivalent is an advantage.
• 3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in retail, FMCG, e‑commerce, supermarket, or grocery environments.
• Strong understanding of financial reporting standards and Nigerian tax laws.
• Experience with budgeting and financial forecasting.
• Excellent numerical, analytical, and communication skills.
• High level of integrity, confidentiality, and ability to meet deadlines.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with accounting software.
