Accountant / Finance and Reconciliation Officer

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Accountant / Finance and Reconciliation Officer to join Mr P Midnight Cravings in Lagos. The role will own daily financial reconciliation, control cash handling and support cost management across our hospitality operations.

Key responsibilities

• Reconcile sales, cash, POS, bank transfers and other payment channels daily.
• Investigate and report any financial discrepancies, monitor refunds, voids, discounts and complimentary items.
• Maintain strong cash‑handling controls and identify potential revenue leakage.
• Work with operations to reconcile stock purchases, usage, waste and closing inventory, and monitor food‑costs.
• Review supplier invoices, purchasing records and support waste‑reduction initiatives.
• Prepare accurate daily, weekly and monthly financial reports, profit‑and‑loss statements and cash‑flow forecasts.
• Develop budgets, compare actual performance against budget and highlight financial trends.
• Build and maintain reconciliation sheets, dashboards and other financial trackers using Excel or Google Sheets.
• Utilise POS reports and digital payment records, and adopt cloud‑based accounting tools.

Required profile

• Senior‑level accounting experience (minimum 5 years) preferably in hospitality or retail.
• Proven ability to manage end‑to‑end financial reconciliation and control processes.
• Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail and ability to spot irregularities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
• Experience with POS reporting and digital payment systems.
• Familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage or Zoho Books.
• Ability to create simple dashboards and automate routine tasks.
