Technical Writer

About the role

Build-a-Tech Incubator & Workspace is a hardware technology accelerator that equips start-ups with resources, mentorship and support. It is looking for a Technical Writer to develop, organise and maintain written content that supports its programmes, products and technical activities. The role is full-time and on-site in Uyo, Akwa Ibom.

Key responsibilities

• Produce technical and non-technical documentation such as manuals, reports, white papers, standards and training guides.
• Translate complex procedures, technical methods and project activities into clear, concise language.
• Work with engineers, programme leads and project teams to gather information and ensure accuracy.
• Maintain and update documentation repositories and version control.
• Ensure published content matches the organisation's brand voice and quality standards.
• Prepare documentation templates, glossary entries and style guides.
• Support proposal writing, programme summaries and grant reporting.
• Proofread and edit content for clarity, consistency, grammar and format.

Required profile

• Exceptional writing, editing and proofreading skills.
• Ability to interpret technical information and explain it clearly to a varied audience.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Preferred: a Bachelor's degree in English, Technical Communication, Journalism or a related field; experience counts more than formal qualifications.

Required skills

• Documentation tools such as Google Workspace, MS Office and Google Docs/Drive.
• Optional: familiarity with engineering, software, energy systems or fabrication; document versioning systems and content management platforms; basic design and layout principles.

Shifts are 08:00-16:00, 09:00-17:00 or 10:00-18:00, with one Saturday per month. Salary is N100,000 to N150,000 per month depending on experience, qualifications and education. Apply through the employment application form, which requires a Google account.
