Strategic Project Lead – Remote Freelance

About the role

ZettaMine is looking for experienced Strategic Project Leads to manage complex, multi‑stakeholder software engineering programs on a freelance basis. The role is fully remote and requires immediate availability.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end delivery of projects, covering scope, timelines, quality, throughput, contributor performance and cost.
• Design and manage workflows for coding datasets, RL environments, benchmarks and rubric‑based evaluations.
• Identify operational bottlenecks, improve workflows, and oversee capacity planning.
• Partner with talent teams to source, assess, onboard and train distributed software engineers.
• Build team‑lead and reviewer structures for programs involving 100–1,000+ contributors.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading complex, multi‑stakeholder programs in software engineering, technical program management or related fields.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and customer‑facing communication skills, including risk communication and client relationship management.
• Experience managing distributed teams or large‑scale technical operations.
• Ability to read and review code, understand test suites and assess technical work independently.
