Site Architect

About the role

The Site Architect is a key leader on a construction project, overseeing all architectural activities so that work follows the approved designs and technical specifications. The role keeps the design intent intact, ensures safety protocols are followed, delivers high-quality finishes and manages the project schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise architectural construction activities and check they match approved drawings and specifications
• Carry out routine site inspections of workmanship and quality
• Facilitate collaboration between architects, engineers, contractors, subcontractors and consultants on site
• Review shop drawings, material samples and construction plans for accuracy
• Spot and resolve design and construction issues quickly
• Oversee finishes, dimensional accuracy and detailing, and ensure compliance with building codes and project standards
• Monitor site progress and report delays or critical issues to the project manager
• Manage site instructions, variations and design changes
• Maintain detailed reports, photos and inspection logs, and help with testing, snagging, defect rectification and handover
