Senior Site Reliability Engineer

About the role

Duplo, a fast‑growing fintech startup in Lagos, is looking for a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to help build a highly available, scalable, and secure backend for its B2B payments platform. You will own reliability across critical services that move money and work closely with product, compliance, and engineering teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design and implementation of high‑risk, high‑complexity initiatives to improve availability, scalability, and resilience.
• Define service boundaries, infrastructure architecture, and reliability standards.
• Design systems with operational safety and compliance for financial transactions.
• Own end‑to‑end observability: metrics, logging, tracing, and alerting.
• Build and refine incident response processes, lead production incident diagnosis, and drive post‑mortems.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional partners and provide technical guidance.
• Make architectural trade‑off decisions and drive capacity planning, performance tuning, and cost‑efficiency.
• Define and track SLOs/SLIs and prioritize reliability work.
• Mentor engineers and raise engineering and operational standards.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of experience in SRE, DevOps, or backend infrastructure.
• Deep expertise in Kubernetes, Docker, and AWS in production.
• Strong scripting or programming ability (TypeScript or comparable language).
• Hands‑on experience with PostgreSQL at scale, including replication, backup/recovery, and performance tuning.
• Practical knowledge of Redis for caching, coordination, and rate‑limiting.
