Data Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a motivated, detail‑oriented Data Engineer to join our fast‑paced start‑up environment. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in data analysis, data modeling, and experience with LookML, SQL and Google BigQuery.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze data and create actionable insights, building reports and dashboards using Looker and SQL.
• Design and implement scalable database solutions, maintaining data models, schemas and data dictionaries.
• Manage and optimise database performance, handling backups, indexing and monitoring.
• Develop LookML models and write complex SQL queries for data extraction and transformation.
• Utilise BigQuery for storage, querying and cost‑efficient processing.
• Design and maintain ETL pipelines to integrate data from multiple sources while ensuring data quality.
• Collaborate with product, technology, finance, marketing and distribution teams to meet business needs.
• Document data architecture, processes and enforce best practices for data governance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT or a related quantitative field.
• 2‑5+ years of experience in database management, data engineering or data analysis.
• Strong problem‑solving, analytical and communication abilities.
• Willingness to stay updated on emerging data technologies.
