Senior Sales Executive – Polymers & Engineering Plastics

About the role

VerdaPrim is launching its Nigerian commercial operations for specialty polymers and engineering plastics. The senior sales executive will build and manage a portfolio of PVC, commodity polyolefins and engineering plastics across Lagos, Ogun and other industrial clusters.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage sales to PVC converters (pipes, cables, profiles), packaging/FMCG converters, and appliance, electronics and other industrial manufacturers.
• Own the full commercial process from prospecting, technical requirement gathering and grade selection through quotation, negotiation, order coordination and payment collection.
• Protect gross margins by emphasizing supply reliability, specialized grades, small‑lot availability and technical support rather than price alone.
• Evaluate customer payment risk, manage receivables within approved terms and promptly escalate overdue balances.
• Coordinate with international supply and technical teams on material availability, product qualification, trials and customer‑specific requirements.
• Provide market intelligence on prices, competitors, demand, foreign exchange, import clearing and emerging converter investments.
• Build credible relationships across the Lagos and Ogun manufacturing ecosystem, including relevant industry associations.

Required profile

• Minimum 6 years of direct polymer or plastics raw‑material sales experience in Nigeria with verifiable relationships among converters and industrial procurement teams.
• Strong experience in PVC plus demonstrated exposure to PE/PP or engineering polymers.
• Consistent delivery against sales volume, gross margin and collections targets.
• Working knowledge of landed‑cost economics, CIF pricing, customs duties, foreign‑exchange exposure and inland logistics.
• Independent judgment, disciplined pipeline management, strong English communication and willingness to travel regularly.

Required skills

• Technical knowledge of PVC grades, K‑values, melt flow indices and flame‑retardancy ratings.
• Familiarity with engineering plastics such as ABS, PC, PC/ABS, PA and PBT.
• Ability to discuss polymer processing requirements and grade selection with customers.
