Senior Registrar Urologist

About the role

The Senior Registrar Urologist will deliver high‑quality, patient‑centred urological care under the supervision of Consultant Urologists while progressing through an accredited residency training programme.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and manage elective and emergency urological conditions across outpatient, inpatient, theatre and emergency settings.
• Perform or assist with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as cystoscopy, ureteric stenting, prostate biopsy, stone removal and open or minimally invasive urological surgery.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation, participate in audits, and contribute to protocol development and quality‑improvement initiatives.
• Teach and supervise junior doctors, medical students and other team members, and engage in departmental teaching activities.

Required profile

• MBBS or equivalent with full registration and a valid practising licence in Nigeria.
• Successful completion of Part I or Membership examination in Surgery of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria or West African College of Surgeons.
• Current enrolment in an accredited Urology residency programme and at least four years of postgraduate surgical training.
• Demonstrated commitment to teaching, clinical audit, research and professional development.

Required skills

• Cystoscopy and ureteric stenting.
• Prostate biopsy and stone procedures.
• Open and minimally invasive urological surgery.
• Interpretation of imaging, laboratory, histopathology and urodynamic results.
