Senior Press and PR Executive

About the role

Choice Talents is hiring a full-time Senior Press and PR Executive based in Abuja. The role covers media relations, crisis communication, content creation, event coordination and team leadership, working closely with senior leadership and internal teams.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain relationships with media outlets, journalists and influencers, and draft and distribute press releases, media advisories and pitch materials.
• Respond to media inquiries and coordinate media interviews with company spokespeople.
• Work with senior leadership on PR strategies, establish a consistent brand voice and advise executives on media interactions and public appearances.
• Develop crisis communication plans, act as spokesperson during crises and provide clear, timely information to the media.
• Write press releases, articles, speeches, blog posts and op-eds, and oversee media-friendly content.
• Plan and coordinate press events and conferences, and represent the organisation at industry events and public speaking engagements.
• Monitor media coverage, report on campaign effectiveness and analyse trends in coverage and public opinion.
• Lead and mentor junior PR team members and collaborate with marketing, social media and other teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
• 10+ years of experience in public relations, with a focus on media relations and corporate communications.
• Proven track record of successful PR campaigns and positive media coverage.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and strong media relationships with local, national and trade press.
• Experience in crisis communication and handling sensitive issues.
• Leadership experience and the ability to mentor and collaborate with teams.

Required skills

• Proficiency in media monitoring tools, PR analytics and reporting software.
• Preferred: understanding of digital PR and social media strategy, multilingual skills, and industry-specific knowledge such as government, politics, technology, healthcare or consumer goods.
