Senior HR Officer (Kano, Nigeria)

About the role

BURN operates a factory in Kano producing world‑class clean cooking stoves. The Senior HR Officer will support all HR functions, ensuring smooth HR processes and the well‑being of the workforce across the Kano site and broader Nigerian operations.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee onboarding for all new hires, managing contracts, policies, and documentation.
• Address employee HR issues and escalate to management when needed.
• Recruit casual, full‑time, and managerial staff.
• Review and train employees on updated company policies.
• Collect documentation for contract preparation and monitor contract expiry dates.
• Manage the staff medical allowance scheme, verify claims, and process reimbursements.
• Conduct proper exit procedures, ensuring documentation, medical clearance, and return of company assets.
• Coordinate medical check‑ups for all employees.
• Maintain the training calendar and capture training needs.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the manager.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in industrial relations or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years HR experience in the manufacturing sector.
• Strong knowledge of Nigerian labour legislation.
• Proficiency in English and Hausa.
• Ability to commute to or relocate to Kano.
• Membership in a recognised HR professional body is an advantage.
