Senior Fullstack Engineer - Flutter & TypeScript

About the role

A fast-growing AI-powered social platform is hiring a Senior Fullstack Engineer for its Product & Engineering team. The role is ownership-heavy: you take responsibility for features from scope and technical planning through build, launch, measurement and ongoing iteration. It is fully remote, open to anyone in Africa, with Monday to Friday working hours of 9:00-17:00 WAT (UTC+1) and an expected start as soon as possible.

Key responsibilities

• Build and ship features across a Node.js + TypeScript backend, a React / Next.js web app and Flutter mobile apps.
• Understand the purpose and intended user behaviour behind each feature and work closely with product and design.
• Write technical implementation, product implementation and tracking plans.
• Solve engineering challenges such as real-time availability, high-demand bookings, location-aware functionality and invite and trust systems.
• Ship features behind feature flags and holdout groups, and track uptime, error rates, latency, retention and engagement.
• Own features after launch, monitor their performance and plan improvements, and support teammates as a backup owner.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience shipping production software with genuine ownership of features after launch.
• Strong written communication and the ability to create clear technical plans.
• Nice to have: consumer social, marketplace or booking products, viral or invite-driven growth, maps and location features, product analytics tools, data warehouses, and production experience with LLMs or AI agents.

Required skills

• Node.js and TypeScript backend.
• PostgreSQL and Redis.
• React or Next.js.
• Flutter strongly preferred; mobile app experience required.
• Data integrity: transactions, locking, race conditions and consistency under load.
• Real-time systems such as WebSockets, SSE or pub/sub.
• Instrumentation and experimentation: funnels, A/B tests, holdouts.

• Salary of $1,500-$2,500 per month, with an annual bonus in cash and stock linked to the performance of the features you own.
