Senior Electrical Design Engineer (MEP / Building Services)

About the role

A leading Nigerian engineering and construction company is looking for an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join its engineering team. The engineer takes responsibility for designing, coordinating, documenting and commissioning electrical systems on building and infrastructure projects, working with clients, consultants, contractors and multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Develop concept, FEED and detailed electrical designs, including load, voltage-drop and short-circuit calculations
• Design low-voltage distribution systems, transformers, generators, cables, circuit breakers and protection systems
• Prepare single-line diagrams, layouts, schedules, specifications and technical documentation
• Design lighting, small-power systems and fire detection and alarm systems
• Produce and review drawings in AutoCAD and Revit, and run lighting calculations in DIALux/Relux
• Review contractor shop drawings, submittals and as-built docs, and raise and close RFIs
• Support procurement, installation and construction, supervise works, inspect sites and take part in testing, commissioning, snagging and handover
• Review O&M manuals, support QA/QC and coordinate with other disciplines

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electrical & Electronics Engineering or a related discipline
• Significant experience in electrical building-services design and construction, including FEED and detailed design
• Experience reviewing drawings, specifications and contractor documentation, and with construction supervision and commissioning
• Professional engineering membership or registration is an advantage
• Preferred: experience on hotels, commercial, residential, retail, industrial or major infrastructure projects
