Senior Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist

About the role

The Hospital seeks a senior consultant to lead obstetric and gynaecology services across Warri, Ughelli and Okuokoko. The role involves delivering high‑quality clinical care, performing complex surgeries, and mentoring junior staff while ensuring compliance with national and international standards.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive obstetric and gynaecological care, including high‑risk pregnancies.
• Perform advanced surgeries such as caesarean sections, hysterectomies and laparoscopic procedures.
• Manage emergency obstetric situations like postpartum haemorrhage, eclampsia and obstructed labour.
• Oversee family planning, fertility and reproductive endocrinology services.
• Conduct ward rounds, outpatient clinics and multidisciplinary case reviews.
• Supervise and mentor resident doctors, medical officers and nursing staff.
• Develop and implement evidence‑based clinical protocols.
• Participate in maternal mortality audits, quality improvement and community outreach programmes.

Required profile

• MBBS or equivalent with FWACS or FMCOG fellowship.
• Full registration with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria.
• Minimum 5 years post‑fellowship experience in a reputable hospital.
• Proven track record in high‑risk obstetrics and complex gynaecological surgery.
• Experience in both public and private health settings is an advantage.
