Restaurant Cashier

About the role

Ikevora (formerly Startup Soar) is looking for a trustworthy, courteous and detail-oriented cashier to handle customer payments and support front-of-house operations at a restaurant in Wuse 2, Abuja. The post pays a monthly salary of N85,000 on a one-day-on, one-day-off basis, about 15 working days per month.

Key responsibilities

• Process customer payments accurately using the restaurant's POS system and other approved methods, including cash, bank transfers and card payments.
• Verify bank transfers and electronic payment confirmations through approved channels before confirming payments.
• Issue receipts, record all sales and payment transactions, and balance cash and reconcile sales at the end of each shift.
• Prepare end-of-shift summaries and submit accurate reports to management; hand over cash, receipts and records according to procedure.
• Report cash shortages, excesses, discrepancies, failed transactions or suspicious activity promptly.
• Provide polite, professional customer service and answer basic questions about bills, payments and orders.
• Coordinate with waiters and kitchen staff on orders and bills, and keep the cashier station clean, organised and secure.
• Follow cash-handling procedures and protect confidential financial information.

Required profile

• HND or BSc in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related discipline.
• Previous experience as a cashier or in a payment-handling role, preferably in a restaurant, hotel or hospitality establishment.
• Strong numerical skills, honesty, integrity and attention to detail.
• Good communication, organisation and customer service skills, able to stay calm and accurate during busy periods.
• Punctual, reliable and neat in appearance.

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel and sales reporting.
• Familiarity with POS systems, bank transfers, card payments and other electronic payment methods.
• Ability to reconcile sales, verify electronic payments and keep accurate financial records.
