Regional Head: Retail Shops (Northwest)

About the role

Airtel Africa is looking for a Regional Head of Retail Shops for the Northwest region. The role drives operational efficiency and provides strategic leadership for the retail function, builds team capacity, implements the regional retail sales strategy and ensures sales and customer satisfaction targets are met in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment.

Key responsibilities

• Roll out Airtel-owned shops in key locations where gaps exist, plan lease/rent renewals and manage target-driven retail initiatives
• Cascade and monitor regional sales targets and drive month-on-month growth in HBB devices, GADS, ERC and other KPIs
• Optimize operating costs to protect ROI while growing revenue and profitability
• Liaise with Retail HQ, SCM and Marketing for product availability and mix, and drive up-selling and cross-selling
• Ensure compliance with statutory licenses and regulatory requirements, and maintain a consistent brand look and feel across shops
• Expand the breadth and depth of retail outlets carrying the Airtel brand
• Oversee learning initiatives, showroom employee engagement and retention, track reward schemes, develop top talent and run performance improvement plans
• Sourcing and setting up showroom sites on time, and setting regional team performance targets

Required profile

• First degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline; postgraduate or professional qualification is an advantage
• 8+ years of work experience, including at least 3 years in a supervisory role
• Knowledge of the telecommunications business environment
