Recovery Supervisor

About the role

MAX is looking for a Recovery Supervisor to oversee and manage the debt recovery process within the business. The role ensures that overdue accounts are effectively tracked, negotiated and recovered while staying compliant with company policies and regulatory requirements. It covers recovery activities across all cities and new locations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead recovery activities across all cities and new locations, handling special credit arrangements and deviations from standard payment terms.
• Review the effectiveness of the debt recovery process and its policies.
• Select and manage the outsourcing of seriously past-due accounts referred monthly to external debt agencies, monitoring collection performance and ensuring a reasonable rate of return.
• Execute asset recovery logistics with external providers such as repossession companies, bailiffs, external legal counsel and auctioneers, within budget and troubleshooting unforeseen issues.
• Engage with guarantors to negotiate reasonable settlements on post-recovery shortfalls and collaborate with legal counsel on enforcing legal claims.
• Keep training plans and documentation up to date for collections of receivables and applications.
• Take part in the career development of the team and staffing decisions, and lead and develop collections teams across current and new city launches.

Required profile

• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in debt recovery, credit control or collections, including at least 1-2 years in a supervisory role.
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a related field.
• Strong leadership and team management skills, and excellent negotiation and conflict resolution abilities.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to analyse data and generate reports for management review.

Required skills

• Proficiency in debt recovery tools, CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong understanding of credit policies, financial regulations and debt collection laws.
