Quantity Surveyor

About the role

The Quantity Surveyor will join Build‑a‑School Initiative’s construction team in Abeokuta, overseeing cost planning and control for school building and renovation projects. This full‑time, on‑site position ensures that each project stays within the financial limits set by donors and the organization’s mission.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQ), cost estimates and tender documentation.
• Evaluate contractor quotations and support procurement decisions.
• Track project budgets, monitor expenditures and produce regular cost reports.
• Conduct site measurements, value work completed and assess variations.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, architects and community stakeholders.
• Assist in risk assessment, contract administration and compliance with donor expectations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, Civil Engineering or related field.
• Professional certification or membership in a recognized quantity surveying body is an advantage.
• Experience on building or infrastructure projects, preferably in education or nonprofit settings in Africa.
