Project Adviser, Policy & Value Chain Engagement (ECOWAS)

About the role

The International Trade Centre (ITC) is recruiting a Project Adviser for Policy and Value Chain Engagement (LICA 9) in Abuja, Nigeria. The role supports trade and investment policy programming and the facilitation of regional value chain review mechanisms in selected sectors, within the ECOWAS sub-regional component of the Africa Trade Competitiveness and Market Access (ATCMA) umbrella programme. The expected duration is one year, with a possibility of extension.

Key responsibilities

• Support the designated unit of the ECOWAS Commission or the nominated regional agency in programming and organizing trade and investment policy and regional value chain platform meetings, and prepare technical documents such as reports, concept notes, policy briefs, workplans and presentations.
• Work with the ECOWAS Commission and regional and national institutions to identify, shortlist and prioritize regulatory barriers to trade and investment, and help subject-matter experts develop policy reforms, including through public-private dialogues.
• Support regional and national focal points in designing, implementing and monitoring regional value chain review mechanisms, and track follow-up actions.
• Collect, analyse, monitor and present data on value chain review results, and help enter implementation progress and sector outcomes into a strategy tracking tool.
• Contribute to policy advocacy and evaluation, including research studies, policy evaluations and impact assessments.
• Help write progress reports, communication briefs, press releases and social media posts.
• Provide administrative and substantive support to VCRM meetings, workshops and events, including logistics and participant lists.
• Carry out outreach and communicate results, and liaise with national and international funding partners to ensure their engagement and the sustainability of the platform.
