Product Owner

About the role

RightCom, which has been transforming customer experience in Africa for more than a decade, is hiring a Product Owner. The role acts as the dedicated product partner for an engineering squad, separating delivery execution from product strategy so engineers always have high-quality, ready-to-build work. It covers backlog ownership, leading agile ceremonies and acting as the squad's execution partner.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a deep, continuously groomed backlog with at least two full sprints of ready-to-execute stories, decomposing feature definitions into user stories with acceptance criteria and clear scope
• Manage story sequencing, dependencies and priorities, and keep requirement traceability from feature definition through acceptance testing
• Lead sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog grooming, sprint review and retrospective, keeping them focused and documented
• Remove blockers, track velocity and foster a high-performing team environment
• Be the main product point of contact for engineers, run or coordinate UAT, and document edge cases and integration considerations
• Work with the Product Manager to keep the upstream requirements pipeline healthy

Required profile

• 2+ years as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, junior Product Manager or software engineer in an agile environment
• Ability to write precise user stories and acceptance criteria for complex features
• Experience facilitating agile ceremonies with engineering teams
• Attention to detail and clear, structured written communication
• Proactive ownership of backlog health and delivery outcomes
• Fluent French and English is a nice to have

Required skills

• Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or equivalent agile certification
• Experience in SaaS platforms
• Familiarity with Azure DevOps, ClickUp or similar backlog tools
• Background in software QA or acceptance testing
• Comfortable using AI tools such as LLMs and prototyping tools
