Paediatric Nurse

About the role

Join Ashmed Specialist Hospital as a Paediatric Nurse and deliver safe, compassionate, age‑appropriate care to infants, children and adolescents. You will work in a dedicated paediatric unit, collaborating closely with doctors, allied health professionals and families to ensure the best outcomes for young patients.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care, assess and monitor paediatric patients, and promptly report changes to clinicians.
• Administer medications, treatments and prescribed interventions accurately.
• Assist doctors during examinations, procedures and emergencies.
• Monitor vital signs, pain levels, fluid balance and other clinical parameters.
• Prepare patients for investigations, procedures and treatments.
• Maintain accurate nursing documentation and patient records.
• Educate parents and caregivers on medication, nutrition, hygiene and home care.
• Recognise and respond to paediatric emergencies, escalating when necessary.
• Uphold infection‑prevention standards and ensure proper care of nursing equipment.
• Participate in handovers, ward rounds, multidisciplinary reviews and quality‑improvement activities.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse qualification from a recognised institution.
• Valid registration and practising licence with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.
• Minimum of 3 years post‑qualification nursing experience, with proven paediatric nursing exposure.
• Strong knowledge of paediatric nursing principles and practices.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and communicate with children and families.
