OTC FX Trader

About the role

String is hiring an OTC Trader to run day-to-day trading on its OTC desk, covering fiat currencies and stablecoins. The role is hands-on: sourcing competitive prices from liquidity providers, distributing daily rates, quoting counterparties and executing trades. It works closely with treasury and commercial teams, focuses on growing volumes from existing counterparties and expanding the liquidity provider network.

Key responsibilities

• Sourcing and comparing live FX and stablecoin rates across banks, OTC desks and liquidity providers, negotiating rates while protecting target margins
• Providing indicative and firm quotes to counterparties in USD, USDT, USDC, GHS, NGN and other currencies, and managing execution from quote to confirmation
• Maintaining accurate trade records and coordinating with treasury on funding and settlement before committing to trades
• Distributing daily rates to existing counterparties, responding to quote requests and reactivating dormant ones
• Onboarding new OTC desks, market makers and liquidity providers, evaluating them on price, execution reliability and settlement capability
• Monitoring spreads, execution costs and net desk revenue, keeping trades within approved pricing, exposure and risk limits, and preparing daily trading reports

Required profile

• About 2-6 years of experience in FX trading, OTC trading, treasury dealing, brokerage or institutional digital asset trading
• Practical experience sourcing FX or stablecoin liquidity and executing transactions
• Ability to negotiate competitive pricing and manage several live transactions at once
• Nice to have: experience at an OTC desk, FX brokerage, remittance or institutional crypto firm; existing relationships with liquidity providers; familiarity with African FX markets (Ghana, Nigeria) and cross-border payment settlement

Required skills

• Strong understanding of FX markets, bid/offer spreads, pricing and trade execution
• Familiarity with stablecoins, especially USDT and USDC
• Strong numerical and analytical skills, attention to detail and good communication
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced trading environment
