Internal Auditor

About the role

Watu, Africa's fastest-growing asset finance company, provides asset financing for motorcycles and three-wheelers to its customers. It is hiring an Internal Auditor in Lagos, Nigeria, reporting to the Head of Internal Audit & Risk. The role provides independent assurance on the adequacy and effectiveness of governance, risk management and internal control systems, reviewing operations, financial activities, regulatory compliance and internal processes.

Key responsibilities

• Review compliance with laws, CBN regulations, regulatory directives and internal policies, and review financial transactions, lending activities and operational processes.
• Identify and report control deficiencies, operational and fraud risks and regulatory breaches, and prepare audit reports for management and the Board Audit Committee.
• Monitor implementation of audit recommendations and corrective actions, and conduct investigations and special audits as directed.
• Implement the risk-based annual audit plan, develop audit programs and test controls, and coordinate external IT audits, CBN audits and ESG audits.
• Lead occupational health and safety audits and assist in organization-wide enterprise risk management.
• Follow company policies, meet agreed deadlines, communicate clearly and recommend improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
• 4 years of experience in audit, finance, credit or related fields.
• CPA Part II is an added advantage.
• Knowledge of auditing standards, laws and regulations, with strong analytical and communication skills.
