Operations Officer - Microfinance Bank

About the role

CredPal's Microfinance Bank Dawakin Kudu Limited is looking for a detail-oriented, highly organized Operations Officer with strong risk awareness and control experience. The role supports the day-to-day operations of the microfinance bank in Dawakin Kudu, working closely with and supporting the Head of Finance & Operations.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor daily transactions (deposits, withdrawals, transfers, loan disbursements), keep accurate records and reconcile accounts, cash and transactions daily, weekly and monthly
• Investigate and escalate discrepancies, prepare operational reports and support regulatory reporting and returns
• Identify and mitigate operational and transaction risks, ensure adherence to internal controls and policies, and escalate control breaches
• Manage cash handling, counts, balancing and vault operations, and monitor cash levels
• Support customers on transactions and inquiries, and support loan processing, documentation, disbursement and repayment monitoring
• Support the Head of Finance & Operations with reporting, reconciliations, returns filing and compliance, and help implement SOPs and process improvements

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a related field
• At least 3 years of experience strictly within a microfinance bank
• Demonstrated experience in risk management, internal controls or operations risk in a microfinance environment
• Experience supporting regulatory reporting and returns filing (CBN, NDIC, etc.)
• Must reside in Kano State, preferably near Dawakin Kudu

Required skills

• Strong understanding of microfinance operations, reconciliation and transaction processes
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and core banking systems used in microfinance
• Attention to detail, analytical skills and good communication
