Operations and Maintenance Manager - Solar Power (Abuja)

About the role

A renewable energy company providing solar power solutions across urban and rural communities in Nigeria is hiring an Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Manager in Abuja. The role oversees the performance, maintenance and reliability of solar power plants, ensuring efficient operations, technical excellence and compliance with safety and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations and maintenance of solar mini-grid, C&I and similar projects, and supervise engineers and technicians
• Develop daily and weekly operational plans, schedule system checks and preventive and corrective maintenance
• Lead troubleshooting of solar inverters, battery systems and other equipment to minimise downtime
• Monitor asset health, conduct energy performance analysis and implement system optimisations
• Prepare daily, weekly and monthly operational reports and collaborate with management on profitability analysis
• Build team culture, organise training on new technologies, maintenance practices and safety protocols, and lead process improvements aligned with ISO 9001
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols, O&M guidelines, industry best practice and local regulations, and partner with the HSEQ team on safety audits
• Maintain assets, tools, equipment, vehicles and spares, and recommend remote monitoring and predictive maintenance solutions

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline; Master's degree preferred
• COREN Registered Engineer (mandatory); NEMSA certification preferred
• Relevant certifications such as PMP, Mini-Grid Design, SPVIS, NAPTIN or equivalent
• Membership in professional engineering associations
• Minimum 8 years of experience, with at least 4 years in operations and maintenance, preferably in solar PV, energy storage or energy distribution networks
• Proven leadership and team management across multiple locations
