Micro Credit Loan Officer

About the role

Regent Microfinance Bank, a privately owned Nigerian bank established in 2014 and now operating branches across Abuja, is looking for a Micro Credit Loan Officer. The role covers sourcing and evaluating microcredit clients, assessing their creditworthiness and repayment capacity, and managing the loan lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Source, evaluate and onboard potential clients for microcredit loans.
• Conduct credit appraisals and risk assessments of clients' businesses and repayment capacity.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of loan applications, approvals and disbursements.
• Monitor loan utilization and follow up on repayments to protect portfolio quality.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships to improve satisfaction and retention.
• Collaborate with the credit and recovery teams on delinquent accounts.
• Prepare periodic reports on loan performance, client feedback and portfolio trends.
• Promote the bank's financial products and services to existing and potential clients.

Required profile

• Minimum of OND/HND/B.Sc. in Finance, Banking, Economics, Business Administration or a related field.
• 1-3 years of proven experience in microcredit, loan processing or similar roles, preferably in a microfinance bank or financial institution.
• Good knowledge of local markets and communities.
• Integrity, attention to detail and ability to work under minimal supervision.

Required skills

• Strong understanding of micro-lending principles, credit analysis and risk management.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Preferred: customer relationship management, sales and target orientation, analytical reporting, problem solving and decision making.
