Accountant

About the role

Healthnomics HMO Plc is hiring a full-time Accountant in Abuja, Nigeria. The role covers day-to-day accounting operations, payroll administration, financial reporting and statutory compliance, working closely with the HMO's nationwide network of healthcare providers.

Key responsibilities

• Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger maintenance; raise, verify and process payment vouchers following internal controls and approval workflows.
• Process provider and hospital claim payments and reconcile accounts with healthcare providers across the HMO's network.
• Track and manage premium collections from individual and corporate enrollees.
• Handle end-to-end payroll, including salaries, bonuses and deductions.
• Prepare financial statements, monthly budget variance reports, cash flow projections and audit schedules for internal and external auditors.
• Ensure timely filing and remittance of PAYE, pension, VAT and withholding tax, and comply with local tax laws, IFRS and NHIA regulations.
• Support the ERP ecosystem, liaise with healthcare providers on billing and claims, and work with other departments such as Administration, Marketing, Underwriting, ICT and Health Services.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related discipline.
• Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA or in-view / finalist stage).
• 2 to 5 years of accounting experience, including at least 1-2 years in a healthcare, HMO, financial services or structured startup environment.
• High integrity, analytical skills, speed and accuracy under pressure, and a collaborative team mindset.

Required skills

• Hands-on experience with modern ERPs and cloud accounting software (Sage 50, QuickBooks Online, SAP Business One or Microsoft Dynamics 365).
• Advanced Microsoft Excel.
