Mechanical Technician – Hotel Maintenance

About the role

The Mechanical Technician will ensure the smooth operation of all guest‑room and public‑area equipment at the Sheraton Lagos Hotel. Working with minimal supervision, you will respond to repair requests, perform preventive maintenance, and support the engineering team in maintaining a safe, comfortable environment for guests.

Key responsibilities

• Attend to guest repair requests and resolve maintenance issues promptly.
• Perform preventive maintenance, cleaning, lubrication and visual inspections of tools, equipment and machinery.
• Identify and operate shut‑off valves for equipment and building systems.
• Maintain maintenance inventory, requisition parts and supplies as needed.
• Communicate daily activities and issues to subsequent shifts using approved procedures.
• Troubleshoot and repair HVAC, electrical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic, and other mechanical systems.
• Program televisions, replace light bulbs, A/C filters and perform minor carpentry, painting and drywall repairs.
• Apply Lockout/Tagout procedures before any maintenance work.
• Use engineering software for preventive maintenance, energy management and MEP system monitoring.
• Mentor junior engineers and perform Engineer‑on‑Duty duties, including rounds and readings.

Required profile

• Proficiency in at least one of the following: air‑conditioning/refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic controls, carpentry, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation or building management.
• Solid knowledge of safe hand‑tool and power‑tool usage.
• Basic ability to repair or replace PVC and copper pipe, including soldering.
• Capability to train and mentor other engineers.
• Commitment to follow all safety, security and company policies.
