Machinist - Manufacturing Workshop

About the role

The machinist is responsible for assigning tasks and manpower resources in the workshop and ensuring that all fabrication, welding and other jobs given to him or his team are carried out to the highest level of efficiency and effectiveness.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out pre-planned, predictive and corrective maintenance of plants and equipment in line with the company's maintenance procedures and technical regulations, and keep effective records of assigned jobs.
• Maintain good and safe housekeeping during and after work.
• Fabricate required components under good supervision.
• Enforce safety regulations according to company standards and report near misses.
• Transfer clear work instructions from the supervisor to subordinates and carry out additional duties as assigned.
• Keep records of activities and report them daily or weekly, and ensure compliance with health and safety legislation.
• Diagnose faults.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, NABTEB and City and Guilds.
• 3 years' hands-on experience in the industry.

Required skills

• Able to develop shapes from drawings.
• Good welding and metal joining practice.
• Excellent understanding and interpretation of technical and engineering drawings.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
