Production Manager - Pharmaceuticals

About the role

A full-time Production Manager for a pharmaceutical plant in Lagos, Nigeria, reporting to the Plant Director or Country Director. The role covers day-to-day production execution, quality compliance, validation and team leadership, with travel to site and regulators as required.

Key responsibilities

• Convert master production schedules into daily production plans and run batch records right first time.
• Enforce cGMP on the floor: ALCOA+ data integrity, line clearance and reconciliation.
• Lead deviation, OOS/OOT investigations, CAPA and change control with QA.
• Own qualification and validation: URS, IQ/OQ/PQ, process and cleaning validation.
• Keep critical utilities and environments in control (HVAC/HEPA, DP, PW/WFI, clean steam).
• Coach supervisors and operators; drive 5S, visual management and tiered daily meetings.
• Coordinate maintenance and spares for granulators, blenders, tablet presses, coating, caps and lines, and autoclaves if sterile.
• Support audits (NAFDAC/WHO-GMP/customer), tech transfers and new product introductions, and improve yields, cycle times, safety and schedule adherence.

Required profile

• B.Pharm, BSc Pharmacy, Chemical or Pharma Engineering, or related.
• 7-12 years in GMP pharmaceutical production; at least 3 years in a supervisory or manager role.
• Hands-on experience with batch documentation, validations, cleaning verification and regulatory inspections.

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of GMP and ICH Q7-Q10, investigation writing, and risk tools such as FMEA and FTA.
• Cross-functional leadership across QA, engineering, supply chain and regulatory affairs.
• Excel and ERP competence.
• Nice to have: start-up or greenfield build experience, WHO/EU/FDA audit exposure, and Lean/Six Sigma.
