Senior Technical Advisor - Oil & Gas (Economics, Planning & Scheduling)

About the role

Adexen, acting on behalf of a leading international energy and industrial group, is recruiting a highly experienced Senior Technical Advisor for its downstream operations in Africa. The role advises senior commercial leadership on refinery economics, planning, scheduling, optimization and commercial performance, and suits a seasoned refining and commercial professional.

Key responsibilities

• Advise senior commercial leadership on refinery economics, planning, scheduling and optimization, and provide an independent technical view of major commercial and operational decisions.
• Review and challenge the assumptions behind commercial decisions, including LP optimization outputs, crude selection economics and crude assay evaluations.
• Review short-, medium- and long-term production plans, assess their feasibility, and check scheduling constraints and the commercial impact of shutdowns and turnarounds.
• Support inventory optimization, working-capital efficiency and supply optimization, and advise on crude supply and operating risks.
• Mentor the existing EPS leadership and specialist teams, introduce international best practices and build an internal pipeline of expertise.

Required profile

• Minimum 20 years of senior-level experience in downstream refining, ideally 20-30 years overall.
• At least 10 years of significant leadership or senior technical responsibility in refinery economics, planning, scheduling, LP optimization, supply or commercial optimization.
• Exposure to large, complex, internationally operated refineries; experience in major international oil & gas, energy, refining or trading organizations is highly desirable.

• Refinery planning and scheduling, margin and yield optimization, supply and commercial optimization.
• Ability to link refinery operations with commercial and market opportunities, and to advise senior executives.
