Litigation Officer

About the role

Olu Shodmu & Co., a law firm based in Marina, Lagos, is hiring a Litigation Officer. The role covers drafting and filing court documents, preparing case summaries and briefs, attending court and advising clients on litigation matters.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and file court processes, pleadings, motions, legal opinions and other legal documents.
• Conduct legal research and prepare case summaries and legal briefs.
• Attend court proceedings and monitor the progress of assigned cases.
• Liaise with clients, courts, external counsel and other stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate records of cases, court dates and legal documentation.
• Monitor court rulings, statutory requirements and changes in the law.
• Provide legal advice and support on litigation matters and ensure timely filing in line with court rules.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree from a recognised university.
• Call to the Nigerian Bar (BL).
• Minimum of 2-3 years of post-call experience in litigation and legal practice.
• Strong knowledge of Nigerian laws, court procedures and litigation practice.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.

Required skills

• Excellent legal drafting, research, negotiation and advocacy skills.
• Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal research tools.
