Legal & Compliance Officer – Litigation & Recovery

About the role

MIM Finance, a CBN‑licensed finance company, is looking for a proactive Legal & Compliance Officer to support its litigation, debt recovery and regulatory compliance functions. The role involves handling court processes, drafting legal documents, and ensuring adherence to Nigeria’s financial services regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in preparing and filing court processes and legal documents; attend court proceedings and provide updates.
• Monitor ongoing litigation, maintain case records, and liaise with external solicitors and court officials.
• Support recovery efforts on delinquent loan accounts, draft demand notices, and enforce loan agreements and security documentation.
• Review and draft basic legal agreements, maintain legal files, and assist with contract documentation.
• Monitor compliance with applicable laws, CBN regulations and internal policies; conduct periodic compliance reviews and risk assessments.
• Support regulatory examinations, audits, and information requests; maintain compliance records.
• Assist with corporate governance practices, board‑related legal documentation, and statutory record keeping.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LL.B) and Barrister‑at‑Law (B.L.) qualification.
• Called to the Nigerian Bar.
• 2–3 years post‑call experience, with proven litigation experience.
• Experience in debt recovery, commercial litigation, or financial services is an advantage.
