Lead Mechanical Engineer – Rotating Machines Workshop

About the role

The Mechanical Lead will head the rotating‑machines workshop at Felton Energy Services, overseeing inspection, overhaul, refurbishment and rewinding of large industrial motors, generators, alternators and pumps up to 11 kV. This senior, hands‑on position requires leading complex projects from dismantling through testing and return to service.

Key responsibilities

• Provide senior mechanical leadership for all workshop activities involving rotating equipment.
• Lead inspection, dismantling, dimensional assessment, repair, refurbishment, modification and reassembly of major machines.
• Supervise mechanical machining processes such as turning, boring and milling, and coordinate rotor balancing.
• Develop method statements, inspection and test plans, and technical work packs for major projects.
• Mentor mechanical technicians, fitters, machinists and subcontractors, ensuring work meets quality and HSE standards.
• Support electrical testing, commissioning and final acceptance, and contribute to estimating and scope development.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of senior mechanical/rotating‑equipment experience.
• Degree, HND or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Extensive hands‑on experience with large industrial motors, generators, alternators and pumps.
• Proven track record in major overhaul, refurbishment, repair and failure investigation.
• Experience leading workshop teams and supervising technicians/sub‑contractors.
