Lead, Internal Audit & Control

About the role

The Lead, Internal Audit & Control will head risk‑based audit programmes across credit, lending, investment, treasury and operational functions. Reporting to senior management, you will provide independent assurance, drive corrective actions and reinforce a strong risk culture within the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute risk‑based audits covering credit, lending, investment, treasury and operational activities.
• Conduct fieldwork, test controls, identify gaps and document findings.
• Prepare risk‑focused audit reports, escalate significant issues and monitor remediation.
• Provide assurance on credit portfolio quality, risk indicators, provisions and mitigation strategies.
• Assess compliance with regulatory requirements, internal policies and governance frameworks.
• Lead investigations and special reviews into fraud, financial irregularities and policy breaches.
• Engage with management, business units, the Audit Committee, regulators and external auditors, offering advisory support.
• Maintain and enhance the internal audit plan, promote risk awareness and improve audit methodologies.

Required profile

• Recognised professional accounting certification (ACA or ACCA).
• Minimum 10 years of experience in internal audit, risk management or related fields (senior level).
• Strong knowledge of COSO risk and internal control framework.
• Working knowledge of IIA performance standards for planning, testing, sampling and documentation.
• Solid understanding of accounting principles, financial statements and regulatory compliance.
