Finance Program Officer

About the role

Taimaka works to maximize the impact of every dollar spent by addressing acute childhood malnutrition, running treatment programs in northeastern Nigeria and investing in innovation. The Finance Program Officer is a full-time, on-site role in Nigeria providing financial oversight and support for its malnutrition treatment and innovation programs.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day financial operations, including tracking expenditures and preparing and reviewing financial statements.
• Support budgeting and forecasting for projects.
• Prepare timely and accurate financial reports for internal leadership, funders and regulatory requirements.
• Analyze financial data to support decision-making, identify cost efficiencies and monitor compliance with financial policies and donor guidelines.
• Collaborate with program teams, operations staff and leadership to share financial insights and maintain transparent, accountable financial practices.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related field; professional certifications such as ACA or ACCA are an advantage.
• Experience in nonprofit, humanitarian or health-focused organizations, ideally in program finance or grant management.
• Ability to work on-site in Nigeria within a multidisciplinary, mission-driven team.

Required skills

• Strong foundation in finance, including program budgets and cost tracking.
• Ability to prepare, review and interpret financial statements and reports.
• Analytical skills to assess spending and give data-driven recommendations.
• Proficiency with accounting software and spreadsheet tools such as Excel.
