Kitchen Assistant

About the role

We are looking for a reliable Kitchen Assistant to join our team in Marina, Edo. You will support the culinary team by preparing ingredients, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring smooth kitchen operations.

Key responsibilities

• Wash, peel, chop, and measure food items as directed.
• Assist chefs and cooks during meal preparation and service.
• Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, workstations, and food preparation areas.
• Wash dishes, pots, pans, and kitchen utensils promptly.
• Receive, inspect, and store food supplies and inventory correctly.
• Follow food safety regulations for handling and storage.
• Dispose of waste and keep the kitchen organized.
• Replenish supplies and report low stock to supervisors.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and report any faults.
• Adhere to health, safety, and hygiene policies at all times.

Required profile

• SSCE or equivalent; hospitality or food preparation certificate is a plus.
• Minimum 1 year experience in a restaurant, hotel, or catering environment.
• Basic knowledge of food preparation, hygiene, and sanitation standards.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced setting.
• Strong teamwork, communication, and time‑management skills.
• Physically fit for standing long periods and lifting light to moderate loads.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays.
