Instrument Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an Instrument Engineer to serve as the technical authority for all instrumentation, control, metering and safeguarding systems on the IMA Gas Field Development Project. The role will be based in Marina, Nigeria and will involve close collaboration with EPC contractors and internal project teams.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the focal point for instrumentation, control, metering and safety systems for the IMA project.
• Review, comment on and approve EPC contractors’ instrumentation engineering deliverables.
• Validate P&IDs, instrument indexes, datasheets, control philosophies, cause‑and‑effect matrices, loop diagrams and related documentation.
• Ensure compliance with company referentials and industry standards such as IEC, API, ISO and ATEX.
• Verify design of pressure, temperature, flow, ESD, sand detection, fire‑and‑gas and remote monitoring instrumentation for well‑head platforms.
• Review and validate PLC, SCADA, RTU, HMI configurations and safety‑instrumented systems (IEC 61508/61511).
• Support commissioning activities including instrument calibration, loop checking and functional testing.
• Participate in HAZID, HAZOP, SIL assessments, alarm management and constructability reviews.
• Lead weekly instrumentation meetings with EPC contractors and report to technical and project managers.

Required profile

• Proven experience in instrumentation and control engineering for oil & gas projects.
• Familiarity with industry standards IEC, API, ISO and ATEX.
• Ability to interpret and validate detailed engineering documents (P&IDs, datasheets, loop diagrams).
• Experience with safety‑instrumented systems and functional safety standards.
