Human Resource Officer

About the role

The Human Resource Officer manages and supports all HR functions of the organization, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, training and development, payroll administration and compliance with organizational policies and labour laws. The role ensures the organization attracts, develops and retains a competent and motivated workforce.

Key responsibilities

• Recruitment and staffing: coordinate recruitment and selection (job postings, screening, interviews, onboarding), prepare employment contracts, job descriptions and orientation materials, maintain personnel records and employee databases, and ensure timely induction and probation.
• Employee relations and welfare: act as focal point for concerns, grievances and disciplinary matters, promote a positive work environment, administer benefits, leave entitlements and attendance records, and protect employee confidentiality.
• Performance management: coordinate appraisals, monitor probationary reviews and annual evaluations, support managers in addressing performance gaps, and record achievements, promotions and disciplinary actions.
• Training and capacity development: identify training needs, organize orientation, workshops and capacity-building activities, and keep training records.
• Payroll and administration: prepare and verify monthly payroll inputs, attendance and leave schedules, coordinate insurance, pension and statutory documentation, and maintain accurate employee files.
• Policy compliance and labour relations: ensure compliance with policies and labour regulations, review and update HR policies and staff handbooks, support investigations and disciplinary processes, and promote safeguarding, diversity, equity and inclusion.
• Reporting and documentation: prepare periodic HR reports on staffing, attendance, recruitment and training, maintain HR databases, support audits, and perform other duties assigned by management.
