Heavy‑Duty Mechanic

About the role

We are seeking a skilled Heavy‑Duty Mechanic to install, maintain and repair heavy‑duty mechanical systems for our construction projects in Akwa Ibom.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain and repair heavy‑duty mechanical systems, machinery and equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical faults in engines, hydraulics, pumps and drivetrains and act promptly.
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints and technical manuals.
• Ensure compliance with mechanical codes, safety regulations and company standards.
• Perform preventive maintenance to minimise downtime and extend equipment life.
• Collaborate with engineers, technicians and other trades to support operations.
• Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections and maintenance activities.
• Respond to emergency breakdowns and provide timely solutions.

Required profile

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Diesel/Automotive Mechanics or related field.
• 3–5 years’ experience as a heavy‑duty mechanic in industrial or construction settings.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, gearboxes and drive systems.
• Ability to use diagnostic tools, hand and power tools and mechanical measuring equipment.
• Familiarity with local and international mechanical codes and safety standards.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
• Physical ability to work in demanding environments (lifting, climbing, confined spaces).
