Head of Structured Trade & Commodity Finance

About the role

The bank is seeking a visionary leader to head its Structured Trade and Commodity Finance (STCF) division. Reporting directly to the CEO, the role will shape strategy, drive growth, and position the bank as the preferred partner for commodity‑related financing across Nigeria and Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the STCF division’s strategy, identifying new market opportunities and product innovations.
• Originate and structure complex commodity finance transactions for producers, traders, oil & gas downstream players, and state‑owned entities.
• Lead a multidisciplinary team of structurers, analysts, and legal/compliance experts, fostering talent development and succession planning.
• Oversee product development including pre‑export finance, borrowing‑base facilities, pre‑payment structures, and warehouse‑receipt financing.
• Coordinate with Sales & Trading, Syndication, and Risk & Compliance teams to ensure seamless execution and robust risk management.
• Drive capital‑raising efforts by syndicating deals with local banks, international lenders, and development finance institutions.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in structured trade or commodity finance.
• Deep understanding of commodity value‑chains and financing structures.
• Strong network with financiers, traders, and corporate clients in the region.
• Demonstrated ability to build and mentor high‑performing teams.
