Head of Sportsbook (Commercial & Risk Lead)

About the role

We are seeking a Head of Sportsbook to lead the commercial performance, risk management and product strategy of our rapidly growing sportsbook vertical in Lagos. Reporting to the executive team, you will own the P&L, shape the product roadmap and build a 24/7 trading and risk desk from the ground up.

Key responsibilities

• Own sportsbook GGR, margin, hold and turnover against board‑approved targets.
• Define pricing strategy, stake limits, exposure caps and bet‑acceptance rules for pre‑match and in‑play markets.
• Manage the relationship with the managed‑trading provider and decide the transition to in‑house trading.
• Hire, lead and scale the trading and risk team, establishing risk‑tiering, fraud detection and player‑profiling policies.
• Set the sportsbook product roadmap together with Product and Engineering (bet‑builder, cash‑out, live betting, esports, etc.).
• Ensure compliance with NLRC and any state‑level regulations, leading regulatory reporting and audits.
• Represent the sportsbook function at executive and board meetings and collaborate with Marketing, CRM and Community teams.

Required profile

• Proven experience running a sportsbook P&L or senior deputy role with full commercial responsibility.
• Strong understanding of sportsbook risk, pricing and liability management.
• Track record of building and scaling trading/risk teams and processes.
• Ability to make data‑driven decisions and influence senior stakeholders.
