Head of Network Expansion & Banking Partnerships
Nilos
Job description
About the role
Nilos builds financial infrastructure that lets payment companies and financial institutions collect, convert and move money between emerging markets and the rest of the world. It is looking for a network builder to expand its banking and payment partnerships across Africa, Latin America, Asia, the Middle East and other emerging markets. The role works directly with the founders and owns the full partnership lifecycle, from identifying institutions to launching and managing them.
Key responsibilities
- Define and run the network expansion roadmap, prioritising markets by demand, opportunity, regulation and corridor economics
- Secure banks, payment providers, mobile money operators and settlement partners, and build market-entry plans
- Unlock local collection, payouts, accounts, FX, liquidity and cross-border settlement capabilities
- Build relationships with decision-makers at financial institutions and lead onboarding, due diligence and documentation
- Negotiate pricing, FX terms, limits, settlement schedules and contracts, and renegotiate as volumes grow
- Manage partner performance, escalations and risk, and expand relationships into more products, currencies and markets
- Work with Legal and Compliance on market-entry structures, local entity setup and regulatory engagement
- Help recruit and develop regional network talent
Required profile
- Proven track record in banking partnerships, payment networks or market expansion in emerging markets
- Direct ownership of partnerships from sourcing and negotiation through onboarding, launch and ongoing management
- Established network of senior relationships with banks, payment providers or other financial institutions
- Fluent English and willingness to travel regularly
- Experience launching multiple markets or corridors, across more than one emerging-market region, and in hard-to-reach markets
Required skills
- Strong understanding of cross-border payments, local payment rails, FX, liquidity, settlement and banking operations
- Experience navigating complex onboarding with compliance, legal, treasury, product and engineering teams
- Commercial judgment balancing speed, economics, reliability and risk
- Preferred: virtual or named accounts, B2B payments, payment-on-behalf-of, local entity setup, stablecoin settlement, and experience building teams and partner-management systems
To apply, send your CV together with two or three markets or corridors you personally helped launch, describing the starting point, what you owned, the partnerships secured, obstacles overcome and what happened after launch.
